Frances Esther Cheatham, 79, formerly of Franklin, passed away early Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, in her home in Frankfort following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Frankfort to the late Rev. Dorsey and Esther (Miller) Schenck. She married the Rev. Robert E. Cheatham on June 9, 1952.

She is survived by her five children, Joy (David) Easley of Bradleyville, Mo., Cindy (Paul) Easley of Frankfort, Brinda (Jay) Pitcher of Fishers, John Cheatham of Dalton, Ohio, and Retha (Clayton) Jones of Pell City, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lee Schenck of Lakeland, Fla., and the Rev. Eugene Schenck of Asheboro, N.C.; and a sister, Linda LeBaron of Westfield. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 53 years, two brothers and a grandchild.

She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and Frankfort Pilgrim College. She served as a pastor's wife and as a legal secretary for many years.

Services were entrusted to Goodwin Funeral Home of Frankfort, Indiana.
