Dearl Dawson Services: Tues., May 3, 10 a.m.
A Home Going Celebration will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., at Truth
Tabernacle Church, 214 Hosking Ave., for the Reverend Dearl Dawson, 74, who went home
to be with his Lord on April 28, with his family at his side.
Brother Dawson, as he was known, was born May 17, 1930, in Granfield, Oklahoma, to Albert
and Delia Dawson, and as the son of share crop farmers, moved many times during his
childhood, following the crops. In 1949 he moved from Arizona to California with his family and
was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning home to
Weedpatch, he married Rita Mae Campbell in July of 1954. Brother Dawson began his
ministry as Pastor of the First Jesus Name Church in Weedpatch in November 1956 and
continued at Calvary Tabernacle in Bakersfield, until his death. He will be remembered as a
loving and humble servant to people and to Christ.

Brother Dawson was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Rita
Mae Dawson in 1991 and by his second wife, Veneta Stamper Dawson in 2003 and by a
daughter, Leah Dawson in 1967. He is survived by five children and three stepchildren;
thirteen grandchildren and step grandchildren and one great-grandson, as well as numerous
nieces, nephews and a host of friends and church family.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 2, from 12 until 8 p.m., at Calvary Tabernacle Church, 601
