Karen Allender, 64, Loveland, Colorado, formerly of Belmond and Holdrege, Nebraska, died May 19, 2020. A private family service will be held. Her ashes will be interred at the Belmond Cemetery next to her parents. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association,
Karen was born in Ottumwa on July 13, 1955 to Mel and Ruth Allender. The family later moved to Webster City and then to Cedar Rapids where Karen graduated from high school. She went on to nursing school and eventually became a hospital dietitian. She moved to Joliet, Ilinois where she managed a country club restaurant. Then she worked at a Johns Manville plant for many years.
Karen moved to Belmond to be close to family. She worked at PSI and Krysilis. She moved to Holdrege to manage the Subway restaurant, be the night manager at Super 8, and then work at Mosaic.
Karen moved to Loveland earlier this year to be with her sister Sandra.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the DAR. She enjoyed antiquing, cats and trips to visit family.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister Susan Anders; and brother-in-law Dale Seitz. She is survived by her sister Sandra Seitz; brother-in-law Lloyd Anders; nephews Scott Seitz and David Anders; and niece Amanda Eichhorn.
