Wilbert C. Cotton, Sr was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Peoria to William and Elsie Hagel Cotton, he married Wilma Nelmes on Oct. 26, 1939, in Keokuk, Iowa. She died Sept. 27, 1982.
One daughter, two brothers and sisters also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Wilbert, Jr. and Ronald; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Linda) Gavin and Mrs. Terry (Marilyn) Jackson; thirteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A WORLD WAR II ARMY VETERAN, he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8662.
