Edward immigrated to the United States in 1872 and became a naturalized citizen on October 20, 1876 in the Storey County District Court. He was living and working as a miner at Bodie, Mono County, California and Sonora, Tuolumne County during the years 1882-1896 (California Voter Registration lists). He was not found again until the 1910 U.S. Census at Gold Hill where he was enumerated with his wife, Eliza, at Gold Hill (Census posted on Eliza's memorial).
