He served in the 38th Virginia Infantry, Company D, CSA.
He was captured towards the end of Civil War and held prisoner by Union troops in the former Confederate Libby Prison in Richmond. The war ended on April 9, 1865, but he was not released until June, 1865 suggests that he may?? have been either wounded or sickly and unable to be released.
