Excerpt from an article celebrating their Golden anniversary
On Saturday, March 14, 1896 the many friends of Ludwig Bonnett and wife assembled at their residence in Madison township to celebrate the now aged couple's golden wedding. At 10 a. m. sleighs and sleds were coming in from all directions filled with the old, the young, and the middle aged, until the assembly numbered about 250 persons.
Ludwig Bonnett is 77 years of age and his wife, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Borrel, is 74 years old. They were married In Germany in 1846. Their union was blessed with eight children. Their two oldest, Elizabeth, married to Philip Priester, and Lewis were born in Germany. In 1810 they emigrated to the United States and Frederick, now deceased, H. G. Bonnet, Catharine, married to Mr. Brookheiser, Mary, married to Mr. Harris, Martin Bonnet, Charles, now deceased, and William, were born in this country. Of the above children all were present but Catharine and Mary.
