Benjamin Joslyn French was born October 7, 1849 in Adelaide, Canada to Vienna Rogers and Edward Jewett French Jr.

His siblings were George, Ester, Phebe & Vienna.

He married Chloe Della Vanskiver (b. 1853 in DeSmitt, SD) on May 11,1869 in Columbia Co., Wisconsin. Children born to this union were: Edward Nelson (b.1869 in Poynette, WI), Vienna J.(b.1876), Effie Almina (b. 1878 in Kansas) and J. LeRoy (b.1885 in Sundance, Wyoming.)

Benjamin died December 3, 1935 in Yakima, Washington and is buried in the Tahoma Cemetery. (Lot:2, Quarter: NW,Block C, Section IOOF (Oddfellows) of Tahoma Cemetery. )
