Rachel was born in South Carolina around 1803 per the 1850 and 1860 census records. It unknown who were parents were. It is not clear of the relationship she had with Robert Boyd (Abt 1768-1851). Robert's second wife Millie left in 1822 and the two apparently never got divorced. Robert and Rachel may have had to settle for some type of common-law type marriage. Robert died in 1851. Four of her children's families (Harrison, Robert, John, & Ann Jane's) would move from east Pickens Co., SC to north Forsyth Co., GA in the late 1850s. The last record that I have found of Rachel is that she was living in the household of T. P. Jackson and her son John A. Boyd in Forsyth County at the time of the 1860 census. She, however, is not showing in John's household in the 1870 census in Gordon Co., GA. Rachel likely died and was buried in either Forsyth or Gordon County.
After providing the 1860 census record to the Forsyth County Historical Society, I was told that based on the names of the neighbors, they lived in northeast Forsyth probably where Waldrip Road and GA Hwy 369 (Old Federal Rd) intersect.

Robert & Rachel's children were:
1. Harrison (Abt 1825-1861)
2. Warren (1828-1911)
3. Robert (1832-1909)
4. John A (1831-1913)
5. Hulda (Unknown) Showing on 1850 census but a blank is in 1852 Equity papers.
6. Amanda (abt 1833)
7. Ann Jane (1840-1890)
Two possible sons (relationship is not stated in census) which are not listed in the 1852 Equity papers, but are showing on the 1850 census are:
8. James (abt 1839)
9. Moses J. (abt 1846)

Four sons and one son-in-law of Robert & Rachel served in the war. Harrison would die in the first year of the war. Warren served four years. Robert A., John A, and John Gibson (husband of Ann Jane) enlisted on 10 May 1862. It is unknown what became of Hulda, Amanda, James, or Moses.

If you have any other knowledge about Rachel please let me know. Thanks
