Orville Anderson Evans was born 5 March 1894. One obituary stated he was born in Roodhouse and one stated he was born in Quincy.

Mr. Evans resided on the west coast of the U. S., and later in Rock Island Illinois, and then, in about 1961, (returned?) to Quincy Illinois.

He belonged to the International Pressmen's and Assistant's Union of North America.

He had been a resident of the Quincy Illinois area for about five years when he passed away at Hillcrest, a tuberculosis sanitarium in Adams county Illinois.

Three brothers and one sister predeceased him.

Dr. Hugh Paton led the funeral services held at Duker funeral parlor in Qu incy Illinois. Interment took place at Greenmount cemetery.

- rewritten from obituaries and funeral notice printed in The Quincy Herald Whig. No county or state was included for "Roodhouse."

NB: His WW I and WW II draft registration cards both say Roodhouse Illinois as place of birth. Dates top of page must match marker.

Orville Evans and Ruth "Mantague" are listed as marrying in 1915 in Adams county Illinois, per the Illinois County Marriage Records collection.

The 1917 Roman Catholic diocese record appears to be for his brother William Evans and someone else. Their parents are listed in various sources as Commodore and Magnolia Evans. Per my past research (see Commodore's biography) they married in 1880 and divorced and remarried in 1915.

Hillcrest was a tuberculosis sanitarium and was in rural Adams county, Illinois. It was not in the city of Quincy, Illinois.
