Mr. Joseph W. “J.W.” Fletcher, Jr., 95, passed away June 13, 2020, at his home in Biloxi.

Mr. Joseph was born May 25, 1925, in Arcadia, FL, the son of the late Joseph Wheeler Fletcher, Sr. and Beurisa Theresa Seymour Fletcher.

Mr. Fletcher was a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from the Civil Service where he was a carpenter and supervisor. He was a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #120 F.&A.M. in Biloxi. He was also a member of the D’Iberville Community Club and Heritage Methodist Church both in D’Iberville.

He enjoyed watching high school football, working in his workshop, growing “large” peanuts, fishing, and catching shrimp off the end of the pier. He was considered by his family as the President and CEO of the “Fletcher Camp.”

He married Eleanor Diaz “Nuna” Fletcher on April 12, 1946 and she passed away April 16, 1995. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his grandson, Rocky Reid, and by his brother, Moody Fletcher.

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 12:00 noon with a Celebration of Life to be held Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. at the corner of Washington Ave. in West Jackson County, in Ocean Springs at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend J.R. Hall officiating.

Interment will follow in Swetman Cemetery in D’Iberville.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters, Cassandra Reid and her husband, Glenn, and Jo Ann Battaya and her husband, Nello, all of Biloxi; two sons, Joseph Robert “Bobby” Fletcher and his wife Carolyn, and Dean Fletcher and his wife, Anna, all of Biloxi; nine grandchildren, Glenn Reid, Jr. of Biloxi, Sandy Wheat of Biloxi, Dacia Ossick of Athens, GA, Jamie Fletcher of Houston, TX, Jennifer Fletcher of Atlanta, GA, Taylor Ramos of Houston, Texas, Connie Husley of Biloxi, Luke Fletcher of Biloxi, and Melody Fletcher of Hattiesburg; Twelve Great Grandchildren and Three Great Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Reid, Jr., Jake Husley, Anthony Husley, Luke Fletcher, Stanley Jones, and Bert Fletcher.
