LIVINGSTON COUNTY HISTORY BOOK - Page 312.
Smithland, Livingston County, Kentucky.
Samuel Nunn, a purported 28-year-old Indian fighter, who had come all the way from Wilkinson Co., Ga. rode into Livingston County alone about 1801. He settled on a land grant in the area of Camp Creek (Weston) and Rosebud Hill, which is now Crittenden County. This early Livingston County (now Crittenden Co.) pioneer died in December 1845 and was declared intestate in 1846. The graves of he and his wife, Mary, are on the summit of a wooded hill, three miles north of Rosebud, marked by tombs typical of that day. A rusted fence surrounds the remains of possibly a dozen slaves.
