Jasper D. Ellis, 92, 460 E. Fifth St., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 1979.
He was born in Owen County, Ky., on Dec. 11, 1886, the son of Henry and Sarah Lancaster Ellis. He married Goldie Cox on Feb. 3, 1912, and she died in 1972.
Mr. Ellis was a retired farmer and former chief engineer for Peru Utilities. He was also a former machine repairman for Chrysler Corp. In New Castle, and was a World War I veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are a daughter, Velma, wife of Kenneth Hartleroad, Denver; six sons, Donald of Kokomo, Paul of Speedway, Delbert of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Charles, Virgil and Eugene, all of Tucson, Ariz.; 26 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. The Rev. John Mishler will officiate, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
