Genevieve (Jean) D. Bonomo, 85, of Kingston passed away peacefully Monday morning in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore G. Bonomo, on Nov. 3, 1981.

Born in Swoyersville on Jan. 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Victoria Witek Skiendziel. She was a 1940 graduate of the former Swoyersville High School.

She was a member of Holy Name/St. Mary's Parish Community, Swoyersville, and a former member of the Christian Mothers of St. Mary's and also a former member of St. Mary's Church Choir. She was a member of the Polish American Sunshine Singers.

Some of Jean's enjoyments were trips to Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun, vacationing with her late husband, cooking, baking, and taking care of her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Salvatore, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, John and Joseph; sisters, Mary Gavlick, Stella Songaila, Victoria Golden and Helen Skiengel.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Long-Eldred and her husband, William, Kingston; Diane Bonomo, Pittston; Marie Ellis, Forty Fort; brother, Walter Skiengel, Swoyersville; sisters, Amelia Granda, Verona, N.J.; Alice and Arlene Skiengel, Swoyersville; Sister Melita Skiendziel, O.S.F., St. Thomas More Convent, Allentown; Sister Cynthia Skiendziel, O.S.F., St. Thomas More Convent, Allentown; grandchildren, DeAnna Grey, Brian Long, Krista Long, Kerryn Long; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Grey, Andrea Grey, Alexis Nastanski, Andrew Long; numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral Friday at 9:30 a.m. from Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Name/St. Mary's Church, 283 Shoemaker St., Swoyersville, with her pastor, the Rev. Louis A. Grippe, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Swoyersville.
