Nov. 30, 1925 ~ Feb. 24, 2014 Memorial services for Louis Dudley "Dud" Ashley will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 9 a.m. Dud was a native of Plaquemine, longtime former resident of Franklin and a resident of St. Martinville for the past 3 years, who passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at the age of 88 at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.
Survivors include seven step children, Morris Chauvin Jr., Theresa C. Mire, David Chauvin, Cathy C. Sedatol, Michael Chauvin Sr., Carol C. Businelle and Bryan Chauvin; two brothers, Huey Ashley and Norman Winston Ashley; one sister, Eldora Ashley Allen; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Fields Ashley; his parents, Martin V. Ashley and Leona Pisarello Ashley; and by eleven siblings, Flavia Kelly, Buril Ashley, Calvin Ashley, Dorothy Beeman, Darl "Sanko" Ashley, Florence Templet, Charles "CJ" Ashley, Hilda Theriot, Ruby Kelly, Daisy Mendoza and Bernice "Coonie" Allen.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the funeral home to help alleviate funeral expenses.
