BETHALTO — Lavon B. Dickinson went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016 at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto, Illinois.

She was born April 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie (Ford) Dawdy of Hillview, Illinois.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.

On Sept. 19, 1940, she married Walter T. Dickinson in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2009.

They had two daughters, Martha Biesk (Ray) and Bonnie Cowan (Wayne); both are surviving; one brother, Albert Dawdy of White Hall, Illinois; two sisters, Mardella Taylor of Missouri, and Lenora Bude of Godfrey. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jolyn Biesk, Jana Hilt (Vince), Darin Biesk (Tammy) and Melissa Wyers; great-grandchildren: Ethan Buford, Whitney Trimble (Dustin), Brandon Hilt, Tanis Hilt, Ryan Helmkamp (Hannah), Samantha and Dustin Biesk, Hannah and Joshua Lewenzuk, Miah and Calen Pappert, Julia Friederich, two great-great-grandchildren, Laken Stunkel and Liam Trimble; and many loving nieces and nephews and friends.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde Dawdy, Charles Dawdy, Everette Dawdy, as well as two grandchildren, Brian Biesk and Mellanie Lewenzuk.

Mrs. Dickinson enjoyed singing in the senior choir at Calvary Baptist Church and her travels through Europe, including Switzerland; she also enjoyed Israel, Jerusalem, Egypt and the Isle of Patmos and all of the continental U.S. states. She enjoyed her annual summer vacations with her grandchildren, especially to Sanibel Island, Florida.
