Eula Bell Hughes,90,of 310 Hall Street,Glasgow,died Sunday April 23,1994 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital at Glasgow. She was a retired sales clerk,having been employed with Byck's,Bernard's and the National Stores. She was also a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church. Born in Monroe County,she was a daughter of the late Schuyler and Tina(Steenberger) Layne and the wife of Paul Hughes,who survives. Other than her husband,she is survived by a step-daughter,Nancy Lee,Gamaliel;a brother,Will Ellis Layne,Fountain Run;three sisters,Cecil Carter,Louisville;Berdine Smith,Houston,Tex.;and Alyene Dossey,Fountain Run; and two step-grandchildren. Three sistsers-Dorothy Black,Lucille Downing and Marie Cole,preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Monday,April 25,at 2 p.mm. at the Glasgow Baptist Church with Dr. Curtis Ervin and Bro Scott Mackey officiating. Burial was at Neal Cemetery. Serving as Pall bearers were Jeff Downing,Paul Lee, Bruce and Chuck Layne, Billy Clay Hughes and James Huges.
