Carl B. Thompson, 78, a lifelong Millville resident, died Sunday evening at South Jersey Hospital's Millville division after a brief illness.

Mr. Thompson was a tank leader at Armstrong Cork Co. and Kerr Glass of Millville until retiring in 1975. He operated Thompson Home Repairs until 1995.

He was a member of the GMPPA Workers International Union, Local 257.

A football fan and public school graduate, he belonged to the Millville Thunderbolt Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ella D. (Mullenix); a son, Paul C. of Vineland; a daughter, Sara Gensbauer of Buena Borough; a sister, Jeanne Herrmann of Millville; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville.

Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Millville.
