THE PARK MONUMENT - 4 sided: Mary, Mary (daughter), Baldwin, Helen
Victorian symbols mark the graves of the two wives and three children of Rev. Roswell Park, first president of Racine College. Buried with Mary B Park (1814-1854) are daughter, Helen and infant son, Baldwin. Above Mrs. Park’s grave is a hand, fingers pointed toward heaven, showing way for the soul to proceed; above Helen’s, a dove, the winged messenger of God; above Baldwin’s, a lamb, indicating the resting place of an infant or young child. The rose in full bloom marks the grave of a mature daughter, Mary, who died at age 81. Park’s second wife, Elizabeth Niles Park, who died in 1877, is buried in an adjoining grave. Son and renowned cancer surgeon, Dr. Roswell Park is buried in Buffalo, New York. The Rev. Park is buried on the grounds of Racine College.
