JERRY L. BARKER Jerry L. Barker, age 80, of Dahlonega passed away on Jan. 5, 2015, following a rapid decline of a long-term illness.
Jerry was an expert mechanic who had raced sports cars when he was younger. He loved farming and was most happy when surrounded by family and friends. He was also happy to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed him. He will be missed by many and remembered as a loving friend, husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Ody Barker and Golda Hudson Barker, first wife Jill and daughter Karen.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years; 3 adult children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jerry was born in Arkansas in 1934, and spent most of his youth in California. Then the Navy took him to Key West, Fla. There he stayed for the next 33 years. Jerry owned and operated BARKER'S CHEVRON service station and garage on Roosevelt Blvd and other stations. He raised four daughters in Key West.
