W.E. Bowen, age 88, of Palestine, Texas died Sunday, August 19, 2007, at the David E. Foster Hospice Unit at Palestine Regional Medical Center. Burial was at Chita Cemetery near Groveton, Trinity County, Texas with members of the Joe Werner Masonic Lodge No. 553 officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Mr. Bowen was born April 4, 1919 in Groveton to Aaron Young and Ida Rasberry Bowen. He was a longtime resident of Anderson County. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Hickory Hill Masonic Lodge No. 156 since 1960, and was a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Congregational Methodist Church.
