Vern (Bud) Uthe was born September 15, 1921 to Bert and Lydia Heidenshield Uthe at Madison, SD. He died September 22, 1993 at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre. He received his education in Moore Township at Presho. He was untied in marriage to Virginia Haney on January 26, 1951 at Cotter, Ark. Vern farmed north of Presho until his retirement in 1991.
Vern was a member of the Presho United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, and the Farmers Union. He had served on the Annin Township board, and the Annin School Board.
Vern is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Presho, three sons Clint, Cliff and Lowell all of Presho; three daughters Janice Gurganus of Jacksonville, NC; Judy Smith of Pierre and An Huber of Brookings; three brother; Donald of Rapid City; and Harold and Delbert both of Presho; one sister Dorothy Headley of Rapid City. He was preceded in death by an infant son Kenneth Wayne in 1952, his parents, Bert and Lydia.
