Chester Cadwell was born in Hartford County Connecticut, the son of Revolutionary War soldier John Cadwell and Annar Atwell. After the war, John moved his family from Connecticut to Onondaga County, New York. About 1810, Chester married Lucy Belden. Chester's sister Olive later also married a Belden in Onondaga County, NY. Chester and Lucy had four children. After Lucy Died in 1822, at age 28, Chester married Phila Daniels that same year. Chester and Phila had a large family. By 1838, they had moved from Onondaga County, New York to Porter County, Indiana, where he lived out his life. It is likely the family farm is the final resting place for several family members. The Union Township Index of Cemeteries, Porter County, IN lists a Cadwell Cemetery, stating "There were 2 stones seen in 1953 about 200 ft south of road 50 N about 20 ft into the woods." Those stones are no longer there.

A suggested edit by Contributor Martha Meyers (47111826) Is he buried in Mosier Cemetery in Porter county, Indiana? There is a "Ch??ia Cadwell" listed for Mosier Cemetery, died 1/10/1867. 78y, 3m, 27d
