Esther M. (Kresge) Temple, age 89 of Saylorsburg passed away on April 8, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family.
One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4.
She was born in Effort on March 30, 1927 daughter of the late R. V. Kresge and Elsie (Parks) Kresge.
Most of her life Esther owned and operated Esther M. Temple Beauty Salon in Effort. She also worked as a waitress at the former Effort Diner in Effort for many years.
In the 1970's Esther worked as a Security Guard at the Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville. She was a founding and active member of the West End Ambulance Company in Effort and a member of The Effort United Methodist Church in Effort.
We are thankful for the blessings and the joy that Esther has shared with us. She will be deeply missed by her loving daughter: Emma Van Stone of Saylorsburg with whom she resided; a son in law: John Lynn of Kunkletown. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Tonya Kemp and husband Richard of Lehighton; Bryan Borger and wife April of Gilbert and John Paul Lynn of Kunkletown. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren: Carissa Gillespie and husband Scott of Lehighton; Sarah Kemp of Lehighton; Christina Borger of Savannah, GA; Cierra Borger of Whitehall; Angelie, Tristan and Brandon Borger of Gilbert; and a great great granddaughter on the way. She is also survived by a sister: Rena Baumgartner of Kunkletown and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews and her dearest and closest friend: Susan Tantillo of Saylorsburg. She was preceded in death by her son: Jimmy C. Smith, her daughters: Donna M. Lynn and Nancy L. Borger and her husband Dale and a grandson: Jarrod Borger and her former husband Clark C. Smith.
