Mary Catherine Rhodes was born at Churubusco, Indiana, June 9, 1865 and passed away at the Pratt County Hospital, January 1, 1953, at the age of 87 years, six months and 23 days.

She was married to George W. Hull January 13, 1884. Shortly after their marriage, they came to Kansas, locating on a farm near Lyons. In 1908, they moved to the Sawyer community where she has since resided.

She was a member of the Sawyer Christian Church and she was the oldest member of the Pratt County Farm Bureau, and the Royal Neighbor Lodge of Pratt. She was a kind and devoted mother, always interested in the welfare of others and, until her failing health, took an active part in church and community affairs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her eldest daughter, Vera (Mrs. M. C. Banker) and a devoted stepson, Frank E. Hull.

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Mrs. Esther Flory, Sawyer; Mrs. Emma Robson, Mayetta, four sons, Leslie L., Pratt; Elmer E., Wellington; Fred B., Ponca City, Oklahoma; and Thomas A., Plains; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A granddaughter, Alice was reared in her home.

Funeral services were held in the Sawyer Christian Church at 10:30 Monday morning with Dwight Lewis and D. B. Bennett in charge. Burial was made at Graceland Cemetery, Lyons, Kansas.
