He was born April 8, 1896 at Ira, Iowa.
He attended school at Ira and moved to Banner County with his parents in 1908. He was married to Orpha E. Scoville on Sept. 22, 1917, at Kimball.
He had lived in Banner County and ranched there since his marriage.
Survivors include four sons, John (Bud) and Terry J., both of Powell, Wyo., Sam D. of Harrisburg and William A. of Gering; four daughters, Mrs. Jess (Jessie) Hottell of Gering, Mrs. Delbert (Mazie) Dykes of Deaver, Wyo., Mrs. Robert (Marjorie) Lamm of Powell and Mrs. Floyd (Sylvia) Soule Jr. of Harrisburg; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Johnson and Mrs. Herbert (Lydia) Peterson, both of Harrisburg; and 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1964 and by five brothers.
