Services for Betty L. Buchanan, 66, rural Lawrence, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer McClearn officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Buchanan died Friday, Aug. 18, 1995, at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
She was born Aug. 5, 1929, at Columbus, Mont., the daughter of Cecil Patrick and Lula Schooling Swope.
Her family moved from Montana to Hardin, Mo., in 1931, and then to Basehor in 1943. Mrs. Buchanan graduated from Basehor High School in 1946.
In 1958, she and her husband moved to rural Lawrence, where they farmed and raised livestock.
She was a member of the Baptist church.
She married Donald L. Buchanan on Sept. 10, 1946, at Leavenworth. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Edward, rural Perry, and Robert and Douglas, both of Lawrence; a daughter, Lois Fulkerson, Basehor; four brothers, Arthur Swope, Columbia, Mo., LeRoy Swope, Olathe, Richard Swope, Richmond, Mo., and Paul Swope, Leavenworth; two sisters, Shirley Brandt, Leavenworth, and Linda Hoppe, Independence, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
A son, Dennis Buchanan, died on April 15, 1959.
