BAAS, MARY C. "KAY" (HERRON) passed away June 25, 2011, surrounded by her family. Kay was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Parish and retired from Hadley Pottery Company after 28 years. She was a graduate of St. Columba Grade School and Loretto High School, class of 1949. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, John "Skip" Baas; her parents, Arnold and Mary Herron; and her brother, Gene Herron. Kay is survived by her family, John and Sandy Baas, Yuma, AZ, Cathy and David Lee, of Massillon, OH and Peggy Baas of Louisville; grandchildren, Rian Baas, of Yuma, Cole Baas, of Gulf Shores, AL, Deron Lee, of Las Vegas, NV, and Kelsey Lee of Massillon; great-granddaughter, Shyla Baas, of Yuma; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kathy Herron; sister-in-law Jean Herron and brother-in-law, Ben Baas and his wife, Anne; nieces and nephew, Shawn Herron, Cait Herron-Cranford, Julie Herron and Mat Herron; and her cousin and dear friend, Phyllis Kelsey.
In accordance with her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Louisville School of Medicine so that others may benefit through study and research. A memorial Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Parish, 3511 Rudd Ave., at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with a reception celebrating her life immediately following at the church hall. Family will receive friends and visitors at the church one hour prior to the Mass.
