He was born April 13, 1937 in the Shaw Branch Community of Jackson County to the late Bill and Bertie Willoughby Burton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Ott, Carl, John and Martin Burton.
He was a member of Silver Point Church of Christ.
He was retired from McCord’s of Cookeville and served at the Silver Point Convenience Center. He enjoyed volleyball, whittling and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include wife of 60 years (Married May 27, 1960) Jan Herren Burton of Silver Point, son and daughter-in-law Tim and Angela Burton of Silver Point, grandchildren: Casey and husband Daniel Whitehead, Timmy, Jr. and wife Melissa Burton, great-grandchildren: Paisley, Daiden and Bailey Whitehead, Ryan, Logan and Eli Burton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Silver Point Church of Christ with Bro. Luke Wilken and Bro. John Whitson officiating. Interment followed in the G.V. Herron Family Cemetery.
