George proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard from Sept. 9, 1942, until being honorably discharged on March 19, 1946.
On Oct. 30, 1948, George married the former Eleanor Grun in Menominee. Eleanor preceded him in death on June 7, 2016.
George worked as a shipping foreman at Menominee Paper Company for 31 years. He used to golf and was a past member of Little River Country Club.
George enjoyed reading, watching Milwaukee Brewers baseball and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church.
Survivors include his daughters: Sandy (David) Webb of Menominee, MI; Cindy Stites of West End, NC and Wendy (Rusty) Shaheen of Oregon, Ohio;
son Gary (Tammy) Seymour of Seymour, Indiana;
grandchildren: Paul, Todd, Chad, Heather, Nicholas, Beka, Nadine, Kenneth and Emily; step-grandchildren: Matt and Brent;
and great-grandchildren: Henry, Lucy, Will, Ali, Aiden, Ethan, Izabell and Warren.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; brothers: Charles, Fred and Vernon; and sister, Helen.
Visitation for George will be held at Cadieu Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, 2020, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11 a.m., with Father Brian Gerber presiding. Military Honors will be conducted by the Military 20 Year Club immediately following mass at the church. Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum.
