GALYESTON—James Alton Craft passed away in Galveston on Friday. July 21,1995, at the age of 78.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 23 1995 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM. Monday, July 24, 1995, at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, with Rev. Dr. Michael Petty officiating.

Mr. Craft was born on December 15,1916 in Nopal, Texas.

He moved with his parents to Galveston at the age of three. He was retired from Union Carbide Chemical as chief operator. He served with distinction in the Submarine Forces of the U.S. Navy from August 1941 to October 1945. He was a Life Member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and a member of the Silent Service of Submarine Veterans of World War II He was past laison officer of Seawolf Park, past Vice President of the local Chapter of Pearl Harbor Survivors, and held several offices with the national chapter.

Mr. Craft was preceded in death by his parents, James G. Craft and Lily May Roden Craft, and his brother Paul Craft.

Survivors include two brothers, C. G. Craft and wife Eunice, and W. E. Craft and wife Gladys Rae; one nephew, Tony Craft; and one aunt. Bertha Long.

Honorary pallbearers will be Submarine Veterans of World War II, with whom be served with distinction.
