Daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Foote) Belden / Belding.

On Sep 16, 1696, The Assault on Deerfield took place. Mohawks (one of the Iroquois tribes) were allied with the French who occupied New France. They raided the Belden homestead killing Elizabeth (the mother) and son John (3 yrs) and daughter Thankful (9 mos.). Daniel the father and the remaining children escaped, were wounded or taken captive and forced to march to Canada.
