April 2, 2020 the world lost a driven man who could speak to everyone through his smile. Stephen A Dezember II was born on October 26, 1982 in Atlanta, GA. Growing up Steve was an avid athlete who excelled in every sport he played. His passion being hockey and his tenacious personality on and off the ice helped him face a diagnosis of ALS in 2011 with vigor and zest. He was loved by everyone who met him and found joy in even the hardest days. 2 days after being diagnosed with ALS, Steve proposed to his girlfriend of 4 months, Hope, and together they fought a brutal 9 year battle with this disease. Steve's biggest wish was to spread awareness and his brave journey impacted thousands. A graduate of the University of Georgia Steve was a damn good dawg. Steve is survived by his wife Hope Cross Dezember, parents Steve and Phyllis Dezember, sister Rachelle Dezember Mandak (John), nieces Reagan and Reese, mother in law Donna McCullough, father in law Tom Cross, brother in law Zac Cross (Stephanie) nephews Luke, and Jack, niece Mia and half brother in law Jesse and half sisters in law Jessica and Heather. Everyone he left an impression on will carry on his story with them. A celebration of his life will be planned in the near future.
