Arttye Miriam (Spivey) Taylor was born on May 22, 1933 in Dallas County, Alabama, the daughter of John Kyle Spivey (1900–1977) and Miriam (Carlisle) Spivey (1901–1989).
She was married in 1953 to Alfred Wesley Taylor Jr (1929–1981), and he was the son of Alfred Wesley Taylor Sr (1892–1974) and Laurie "Annie" (Cain) Taylor (1902–1981).
She had worked at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. Artye was 84 years old and a widow when she passed away on June 5, 2017.
Survivors included three sons, twin daughters and grandchildren.
Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville.

His devotion to family and friends, and his wry sense of humor overshadowed his 6'7" presence. He loved life and had a particular interest in professional soccer and micro brewing. His broad taste in music was obvious from his large and eclectic library which he was happy to share with anyone interested. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time on the river.
Memorial Services were held on April 15tn at Vine Street Christian Church, and Celebration of Life Services were at Centennial Park on West End Avenue.
