Surviving is his wife, Henrietta Robinson Carnes; four sons, Robert Carnes of Whittier, J.C. Carnes of Dillsboro, Danny and John Carnes of Hoquiam, Wash.; four daughters, Wanda Nations of Aberdeen, Wash, Rita Oatfield of Rochester, Wash, Linda Cooper and Debra Sutton, both of Dillsboro; two brothers Elbert and Charles Carnes, both of Dillsboro; four sisters, Helen Hensley of Dillsboro, Claudia Lark of Rock Hill, S.C., Eloise Chambers and Etta Lee Gates, both of Sylva; 23 grandchildren and 9 great-grand-children.
