Robert was born on December 21, 1947, in Tiffin, to Robert and Joan (Smiley) Wilt. He married Cheryl A. Feasel on February 8, 1973, in Greenville, South Carolina, and she died February 5, 2014.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Liane) Wilt of Findlay and Christopher (Cristie) Wilt of Peachtree City, Georgia; a step-daughter, Jodi (Adrian) Roszman of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Gabrielle and Samuel Roszman, and Selby, Adelaine, Carter, Brady, Bennett, and Edith Wilt; two brothers, Tom Young, of Upper Sandusky, Denny Young, of Nevada; and a sister, Lisa Barnes of Upper Sandusky, and his fiancé, Mindy Ford, of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Wilt, and a sister, Vicki Young.
Mr. Wilt was a graduate of Columbian High School. He retired from the Tiffin Police Department, after 27 years of service and had worked at General Electric prior to that. He was a member of the Ohio Gun Collectors Club, and he enjoyed classic cars, car shows, and cruise-ins.
A Walk-Through Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay respects, and exit without lingering.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery
