John E. Bevier of Ontario, passed away early Thursday morning, January 14, 2021, at Crystal Care Nursing Center at the age of 101. He was born December 1, 1919, in Crawford County, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Viva (Gutchall) Bevier.

He retired as a crane operator at AK Steel and member of USW Local #169. John was a member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church. Always working hard, he also enjoyed being a gentleman farmer. On November 17, 1951, he married the love of his life, Carol Evelyn Hill. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and watching sports, especially following the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians.

John is survived by wife, Carol Bevier; and six nieces, Patty, Peggy, Pam, and Penny, Paula and Carol Ann. He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Bevier; sisters, Pauline Hammond and Betty I. Eckstein; and nephew, Robert Bevier.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery, Tiro, Ohio. In order to adhere to the governor's mandate for Covid-19 protocols, all guests are required to wear a face covering and maintain appropriate social distancing during their visit.
