Obituary.

The body of Frank V. Wheeler was laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery, March 9, 1923. Mr. Wheeler, who had resided for a number of years on a farm about five miles east of South Haven, passed away at his home quite suddenly on March 7 following an attack of influenza and pneumonia. He is remembered as a good neighbor, a kind husband and a loving father.

Born February 18, 1865, near Susquehenna, Penn., in early life he moved with his family to Texas. Later he came to Kansas. Some twelve years ago he moved to the farm east of here. He was 58 years and 17 days of age. On December 31, 1891, he was married to Miss Minera C. Eabling. Into the home thus formed came seven children with the passing of the years. These children, with the widow and one brother, all survive him. They are Mrs. Gladys Ballinger, Mrs. Roy Croft, Mrs. Elsie Burkhart, Claude F., and William Earl, all residing in the home community, and Orville M. and Melvin E., who live at home with their mother. Eight grandchildren also survive him.

He was a member of the United Brethren church, having become a member of that faith while residing in Reno county.

The funeral services were held in the M.E. church at Portland. Rev. J.P. Groom in charge.
