Barbara L. Sutton, 87, formerly of Brookston, died at 11:52 PM on January 9, 2020 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, KS. She was born Barbara L. Capper in Brookston to the late Thomas Capper Sr and Golda Oilar. She graduated from Brookston High School in 1951.

Her marriage was to Herbert Sutton on August 4, 1974 in Brookston. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1988. Barbara also married to David A. Eberly in 1953. David preceded her in death in 1972.

Barbara lived in Brookston until 2016. She moved to Cumberland Pointe in West Lafayette until July 2019. Barbara was moved to Chisholm Place in Wichita, KS until her death.

Barbara was a member of the Brookston Church of Christ. She taught Bible classes for many years. She also enjoyed having the church ladies at her house to make and send cards.

Barbara retired from Purdue University in 1994 after 23 years of service. Prior to Purdue, she was a school cook at Frontier High School in Brookston and the Indiana Veterans Home.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and the bird garden under her apple trees.

Survivors include one daughter; four stepchildren; two sisters; one brother; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Smith; her parents; sister, Joan McClaughryl and brother, Thomas Capper Jr.

Friends may call from 11 AM until the time of Memorial Service at 12 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Private inurnment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
