WALTER ACKERSON, IC WORKER, DIES OF INTERNAL INJURIES
Walter Ralph Ackerson,56, of Richview, died early today of internal injuries received in an accident July 21 while he was working here at the Illinois Central shops.
He had been in St. Mary's Hospital since July 22nd. Services will be held Thursday.
The injury, no considered to be serious at the time, occurred while Mr. Ackerson was operating a buzz-saw. He had shoved a piece of lumber into the machine and it had somehow kicked back, striking him in the abdomen.
A coroner's inquiry has been set for tomorrow at 9am at the Galbreath funeral home.
Mr. Ackerson had been a resident of Richview for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Richview Methodist church where services will be held Thurday at 2pm. Interment will be in the Richview cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Emma, his mother, Mrs. Josephine Ackerson of Normal, IL and nine children. There are two sons, Eugene of Stanford, IL and Benjamin of Richview and seven daughters, Mrs. Carol Nafziger of Standford, Mrs. Winter Wilson of Benton, Mrs. Warner Mueth of Evansville, Ind., Mrs Carl Needles of Centralia, Mrs. Daniel Schimmel of Bloomington, Ind., Mrs. Lester Emrick of Richview and Mrs. Remus Tescula of Fort Wayne, Ind. Other survivors include a brother, Eugene of Irvington; three sisters, Miss Grace Ackerson of Normal,Ill.
