Donnie was born December 14, 1948 in Ronceverte and was the son of Nellie Wykle Massey and the late E. Richard Massey.
He was a retired accountant with Walter Sheets and Sons Trucking Company, as well as a private accountant for many friends and relatives. He served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Donnie was a member of Ronceverte Presbyterian Church where he was Treasurer, Elder, Deacon and Trustee; the Ronceverte Lions Club for over 45 years, where he obtained the Leonard Jarrett award, Melvin Jones award as well as being treasurer for over 30 years and was a past president and cabinet secretary and treasurer. He was a avid WVU sports fan, loved fishing on the river banks of WV and along the Outer Banks, NC. But Donnie’s most joy was being with and playing with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death other than his father was his son Jamie Aaron Massey, his parental grandparents Kellis and Nellie Burns Massey and his maternal grandparents Roscoe and Stella Erskine Wykle.
Surviving are his wife Sue Simms Massey: mother Nellie Wykle Massey of Ronceverte; daughters Sophia Simms-Sibold (Brad) of Pickaway and Reagan Simms-Rodgers (Bob); grandchildren Thomas Sibold, Christian Sibold, Kinsley Rae Sibold and Rhett Rodgers; brother Gary (Terri) Massey of Fairlea and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to the Covid-19 a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family will be holding private services prior.
