John Barnett HUNTER was the 7th of 11 children born to John HUNTER (1793-1860) and Margaret "Peggy" (POWERS, 1798-1860). The family moved from Illinois to Missouri between 1865 and 1870, and in 1876, on January 25th, he married Sarah Ann BODINE in Carthage, Jasper Co, Missouri.

Sarah was born on November 8th 1860 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Sarah and John had 11 children, plus they served as guardians for 3 of his sister's boys after she died.

John and Sarah's children: Claude (1877-1889), Mary "May" Elizabeth (1880-1964) m Davidson, Rosa Myrtle (1882-1957) m Beaver, Effie (1885-1887), Mattie Birdie (1887-1932), Efton Casper (1888-1951), Barnett (1891-1900), Delcie Leota(1894-1917), Harvey Eldon (1897-1900), Ola Vawn (1900-1979)m Booth, and Arlie Gladys (1903-1905).

After John died in Tarrant County (TX) from kidney failure as a result of Bright's Disease, Sarah filed an application for a widow's military pension in Jefferson Co, Arkansas.

Sarah 'is said' to be buried in Jonesboro, Craighead Co, Arkansas, but I have not located her grave so far.
