The beloved patriarch of our family, Herbert Taylor Biesinger, returned to his heavenly home and the loving arms of numerous family members on July 12, 2020.

Taylor was born on April 25, 1926 to Herbert W. Biesinger and Margaret Taylor Biesinger in Salt Lake City, UT. He was the oldest of ten children. Despite many trials, including the Great Depression. Taylor’s childhood was filled with much happiness. He was blessed with wonderful parents who taught him the value of hard work, the importance of treating everyone with kindness, and how to enjoy life to the fullest. Taylor took the responsibility of being oldest very seriously and was a worthy example to his siblings throughout his life.

Taylor graduated from Granite High School in 1944. Two weeks later, he went on to serve in the Army Air Force of the United States during the final stages of World War ll. He served faithfully and received an honorable discharge at Fort Douglas. Taylor had a deep love for his country and understood the price of freedom. In 2015, Taylor had the privilege of participating in the Utah Honor Flight with his son, Brent. It was a sacred experience that had a profound effect on both of them.

After the war, Taylor served in the Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He shared peace through the message of the gospel.

Following his mission, he married Elaine Firman on February 21, 1949. They were the parents of two sons and three daughters: Brent, Sioux, Glen, Iris and Jill. They spent many happy years raising their family in a wonderful neighborhood in Bountiful, UT. Taylor and Elaine later divorced in 1983.

Taylor married Pauline Metcalf Sanderson on August 6, 1988 and added her children, Dan, Jeff, and Lisa to the family.

Taylor and Pauline experienced much happiness through serving in the Florida,Tallahassee Mission, singing in the Southern Utah Heritage Choir for over 20 years, and traveling. Best of all, they enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with their family. Taylor made sure to personally express his love and gratitude to each and every family member. He could not have been more proud of his 109 descendants; we all knew we were deeply loved.

Taylor had a vibrant love for his Savior, Jesus Christ. It was exemplified in every aspect of his life: his lifelong study of scripture and gospel truths, his sincere and effective desire to share his knowledge and testimony at every given opportunity, and, most importantly, through the charitable way he interacted with all of God’s children. His goodness touched countless lives and will have a never-ending impact.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah. A private family service will be held. Interment will be in the Murray City.
