He was born July 25,1911, in Turpin, Okla., to Henry A. and Maggie (Weins) Wedel. He married Edna Kaufman Aug. 11, 1945, at Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge. She preceded him in death Dec. 17, 1965. He married Marie Schrag Wedel May 11, 1968, at Eden Mennonite Church. She survives of North Newton.
He was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton. He enjoyed building miniature wagons and woodworking.
Other survivors include: one son, Anthony Wedel of Shawnee; one brother, Menno Wedel of Liberal; two sisters, Freda Isaacs of Turpin, Okla., and Ann Wichert of Buhler; one step-son, Tony Wedel of McPherson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wenton Wedel; one daughter, Donna Marie Wedel; two brothers, Leonard Wedel and Wesley Wedel; and two sisters, Irene Reamer and Bertha Platt.
Graveside services were Wednesday in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory. Memorial services were Wednesday at Bethel College Mennonite Church with Pastors Steve Yoder of the church and Donald Kaufman of Wheatland Homes officiating.
Memorials have been established with Bethel College Mennonite Church and the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
