David was born to Herbert H. and Ethelene McDonald Belew.

David Melvin Belew, age 70, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 9, 2020. He was the son of Herbert and Ethelene Belew. He proudly served in the 101st Airborne Special Forces in the United States Army for over 20 years and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a successful business owner for over 30 years. David had the biggest heart and was a social butterfly. He loved his family and friends, gardening, cooking, decorating and being a jack of all trades. He always volunteered and helped anyone in need who crossed his path.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by: a brother, Philip Belew; an aunt, Judy Johnson; and an uncle, Ralph McDonald. He is survived by: a daughter, Julie Belew (Brandon Powell); a son, Nathan Belew; a grandson, Jason Belew; an aunt, Bonnie Johnson; and many, many special friends.
