Linda Ballard Austin

Mrs. Linda Ballard Austin, 38, Winona resident and 11th grade English teacher at Winona High School, died Saturday morning, Jan. 7, 1989, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital after a lengthy bout with cancer.

The Webster County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Winona where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir.

She is survived by her husband, Jackie Dale Austin of Winona, a son, Ryan Edwin Austin of Winona, her mother, Mrs. Lucille Chapman of Winona, two sisters, Mrs. Connie Lou Johnson of Winona and Mrs. Peggy Jane Hernandez of Houston, Texas, and a brother, William David Ballard of Clinton.

Memorial services were conducted from First Baptist Church of Winona at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mixon, assisted by the Rev. Frank Bishop, officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dr. John Perry, Dr. Tom Dulin, Dr. Bernard Taylor, Oakley Tharp, Coach Billy Wells and J.B. Williams. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
