James "Howard" Dickens, 85 of Rock Creek passed away Monday, April 4, 2011. James was a retired coal miner who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

He was born on July 28, 1925 to the late Clinton Dickens (1894-1974) and Ruby Pearl Webb-Dickens (1902-1984).

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Virginia Lee Fox-Dickens (B. 1936) whom he married on April 24, 1953 in Packsville, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1953, Page 386, Application Date: April 11, 1953); sons, Rex Dickens of Beckley, James Lee Dickens & wife Brenda Kay Dickens of Masseyville, Randall Wayne Dickens of Shady Spring, and Seldon Keith Dickens of Beckley; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry Dickens and Charles "Larry" Dickens (1941-2019); and sisters, Myrtle Dickens-Linville (1929-2017), Margaret Mae Dickens-Hamm (1928-2015), Joyce Jean Dickens-Alderman (1937-2019), Melba A. Dickens-Williams-Sweazea (1934-2012), Thelma "Marie" Dickens-Miller (B. 1932), and Judy Annette Dickens-Wiley-Groft (1945-2020).

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Kinder officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Rock Creek.
