John H. Pagel, age 57, of Fennimore passed away unexpectedly as the result of a motorcycle accident on Thursday morning Oct. 4, 2012 in South Lancaster Twsp., Grant Co., WI. He was born Feb. 8, 1955 in Baraboo, WI. John's first marriage was to Terri Peterson and then on Sept. 10, 1984 he was united in marriage to Kenda Thompson.
Following graduation from Boscobel High School, John worked as a supervisor at Rayovac in Fennimore during the mid 1970's. He then worked and appreciated a friendship with Bob Goold for many years before being employed at H. James and Sons Construction in Fennimore. John had his "dream job" at James and Sons driving the lowboy hauling heavy equipment until his retirement in Feb. of 2012. He was a current member of the Local 139 Operating Engineers. John enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, taking trips to the casino, John Deere tractors, and deer hunting with his family. He cherished spending time on the deck with family and friends sharing conversation, laughter, and a great steak from his grill. John adored all his children and grandchildren and enjoyed the simple things life had to offer. John's devotion to his family, strong work ethic, and loyal friendships will live on forever.
John is survived by his beloved wife Kenda, his four children; J.C. (Tonya) Pagel of Hollandale, Jenifer (Justin) Kasten of Waukesha, Kaleb Pagel and Kelsey Pagel, both of Fennimore, four grandchildren; Rayanna Monroe, Taetum Pagel, Aiden Pagel, Gavyn Kasten, and a grandchild to be.
John was preceded in death by Claire and Letha Ebert, his fathers-in-law, Bruce Thompson and Ray Peterson, and his first wife; Terri Dobler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday Oct. 8, 2012 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Prairie Cemetery. Pastor Duane Andrus will be officiating. Friends and family may call from 2-6:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon at the Larson Family Funeral Home in Fennimore and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church on Monday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers a memorial fund has been established in loving memory of John H. Pagel.
