Obituary for Doris Evelyn Graessle
Mrs. Doris Evelyn (Droege) Graessle, 99, of Seymour passed away on July 10, 2020 at the Lutheran Community Home. She was born on September 21, 1920, in Seymour, Indiana to the late C. Fred Droege and Bertha (Resiner) Droege. On September 27, 1945 she married the love of her life, George Granville Graessle, II.
Doris was a 1938 graduate of Shields High School and a graduate of a local business school. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Doris was an honorary retired member of Psi Iota Xi, where she held numerous offices. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Elks Club, and the Seymour Country Club. Doris also spent time volunteering for the Red Cross at the blood donation centers.
Doris was an avid fan of I.U. basketball and football. Go Hoosiers! She was a master bridge player and spent her entire life fishing; she was even known to enjoy fly fishing. She loved animals, especially her cats. Her favorite place to be was the much-loved family cabin. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by many.
Doris is survived by her children; George (Jane) Graessle III, and Frederick H. (Pam) Graessle; her grandchildren, Matthew (Brooke) Graessle, Allyson Hillmer (Travis) Smith, Adrienne (Jonathon) Farrow, Barrett (Aspen) Graessle, and George G. "Bud" (Julie) Graessle IV; great grandchildren, Hudson Graessle, Harper Graessle, Holden Graessle, Andrew Smith, Olivia Smith, Lucas Graessle, and Lauren Graessle.
Family who preceded her in death are her parents; her beloved husband, George; daughter, Lucinda "Lu"Graessle Hillmer; and brothers, Milton Droege and Chester Droege.
Funeral services will be conducted at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Joseph Barlau officiating. Friends and family may pay their respects Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, face masks and social distancing are required in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Dr. Bud Scholarship, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
