Jacob L. Roderick owns and resides on the first farm entered in the town of Decatur. It was entered by John Moore, in the fall of 1839, and originally contained 160 acres. It now comprises 237 acres. Mr. Roderick was born in Fayette Co., Penn., in 1850, and came to this county with his father, in 1802, and has been a resident of Decatur since that time. He was married to Allie Fleek, a daughter of Benjamin H. Fleek. She was born in 1851. They have four children — Iva M., Myrtle M., Susan A. and Benjamin H.
